Counseling Services
Using an independent college admission counselor throughout high school can fulfill a number of needs, depending on the student’s age, grade level, scholarship opportunities and scholastic ability. Central to each student’s program, this process is essential to providing both students and parents guidance tailored specifically for them. This process can include a variety of components such as goal setting, interest assessment, admissions guidance, and more.
Ancillary Services
We support the entire college admission experience and create a program tailored exclusively to benefit each client’s specific needs. Ancillary services include:
- Private scholarship and grant search
- Scholarship application assistance
- Referrals to college financial experts
- Referrals to academic tutors
- Referrals to educational psychologists
- Referrals to top qualified SAT, ACT local tutors
Special Needs (IEP and 504 Plans)
We apply our expertise in serving middle and high school special needs students, including those with active Individualized Educational Plans (IEP) or 504 Plans, to help students and their parents successfully navigate college placement. This specialty program is based on our experience counseling families though the difficulties they face in harnessing the child’s academic abilities. We ensure that students with special needs receive appropriate public or private school placement and are properly aligned for college application.
Services For Grade-Specific Students
Grade levels offer specific and time-sensitive challenges for students as they prepare for college. Prep4CollegeNow founder Andrea (Andi) Frimmer, M.Ed., the “get your kid into college” lady, provides grade-specific services for students in grades 8 through 12. For a one hour consultation, Andi will do a an assessment, educate you and your student on the processes and share helpful insights and tips as you proceed into getting into college – LEARN MORE
- Assess student’s aspirations, strengths and weaknesses
- Meet with student and parents for initial assessment and course selection; 3-week review of course load; quarterly review of grades
- Develop academic plan for high school
- Develop action plan with student; adjust throughout the school year
- Project appropriate summer activities, including internships and summer scholar programs
- Begin developing student profile to capture the essence of the person and create a Brag Book of extracurricular and school-based activities

- Design a four-year academic plan
- Develop action plan with student; adjust throughout the school year
- Determine appropriate summer activities, including internships and summer scholar programs
- Develop or update student profile to capture the essence of the person and create a Brag Book of extracurricular and school-based activities

- Update the student’s profile and Brag Book
- Review the three-year academic plan including courses, any remediation needed and grades
- Determine appropriate summer activities, including internships and summer scholar programs
- Participate in SAT prep course, take practice AT/SAT and prepare for and take SAT II subject tests and AP exams
- Research potential colleges, develop criteria, create a list of target colleges and plan college visits

- Develop a preliminary resume
- Review the two-year plan, incorporate remediation where needed, track grades
- Determine appropriate summer activities, including internships and summer scholar programs
- Prepare for and participate in PSAT, ACT/SAT, SAT II and AP exams
- Finalize college selection criteria, research college major of interest, and determine the colleges’ rating in that major
- Complete college visits and the application interview if one is required

- The summer before senior year students complete internships and summer scholar programs, and complete essay-writing and college application tutorials
- Choose schools from targeted list and begin the application process
- Review SAT/ACT/SAT II subject tests and AP test scores; assess and recommend any retakes and coaching
- Refine resume, obtain references from teachers and counselors, complete college essays and polish each application for final submission
- Research scholarship and grant support
- Review acceptances culminating in final college selection
